Filing System — Household, Chiang Mai
From a drawer of unsorted papers to a working filing system
Starting point
A retired couple had accumulated fifteen years of mixed papers — receipts, visa documents, insurance, land title copies, correspondence — all in three large cardboard boxes with no organisation at all. Finding any specific document took thirty minutes or more.
What happened
Patricia spent one full session sorting through all three boxes with them. Documents were grouped by category, labelled in both English and Thai, and placed into a simple A4 accordion folder system. Each category has a colour tab the couple agreed on before the session ended.
Afterwards
They reported that they located their insurance renewal documents on first attempt three weeks later. Their estimate of time needed to find any document: "under two minutes now." They also discovered two documents they had assumed were lost.

Support Circle — Individual, Chiang Mai
Finding a community after an abrupt end to a working career
Starting point
A recently retired civil servant found the transition abrupt — a long career ended, and daily routines that had existed for three decades simply stopped. She described feeling uncertain what the shape of her weeks should be.
What happened
She attended an introductory morning first, then joined a community support circle. Over several months she contributed to discussions about routines, purpose, and the social adjustments that follow retirement. She also attended one readiness seminar.
Afterwards
She now facilitates occasional Thai-language sub-discussions within the circle for participants more comfortable in Thai. She noted that the most useful outcome was simply having a regular appointment in the week — a place to be.
